"Shipley College offers an Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Diploma course that equips learners with the necessary skills to work with children aged 0-5 years, including reception class, and gain working knowledge for up to 7 years of age. This course serves as a starting point for those wishing to progress in Early Years or those seeking employment at Level 2.
Delivered face-to-face, the course takes 1 year to complete and covers topics such as the statutory framework for the Early Years foundation stage, supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities, and promoting holistic child development. Upon completion, learners can expect enhanced career prospects as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner, enabling them to be included in staff ratios.
Learners who have recently completed 140 hours of voluntary or paid work in a childcare setting with children aged 0-5 years are eligible for the course. As assessments take place in the workplace, learners are expected to remain in the same childcare setting for a minimum of 14 hours per week throughout the duration of the course. The Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification can pave the way for progression to the Level 3 Early Years Practitioner course.This course starts week commencing 11/09, 30/10, 01/01/2024, 19/02, 08/04, and 03/06."
