The Programming T Level at Shipley College is an exciting and intensive course designed to help you become a skilled programmer. With expert teaching at college and a 45-day (at least!) placement working alongside computer professionals in the workplace, you'll gain hands-on experience to develop your programming skills.

This course is perfect for school leavers who are passionate about writing great programs and want to learn about the full software development life cycle, from design to coding, testing, and implementation. If you enjoy problem-solving and collaborating with others, this is the course for you!

During the course, you'll study how programming is used in business and industry, with a focus on security and emerging technological trends. The skills you develop can lead to university and employment opportunities, and some students are offered permanent jobs straight after completing their industry placement.

5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above. Maths GCSE at grade 5 or above. English GCSE must be at least grade 5.

Progression Information

The employer who provides your industry placement may offer you work opportunities or alternatively a reference. This will help you secure a university place, employment or an Apprenticeship.

Our T Level students recently had the opportunity to learn about the world of work from industry professionals. Representatives from Yorkshire Water and Shoo Media visited the students and delivered a talk, sharing their experiences and insights. This encounter provided valuable exposure to different career paths and the skills sought after in the workplace. The students gained a deeper understanding of the practical applications of their T Level studies and received valuable guidance for their future careers.
