T-Level students complete industry placement

As part of their Digital T level in Production, Design & Development course, our T-Level students recently completed 6-week placements with local computing companies. These included EXA Networks, who deliver bespoke internet services to schools and businesses, and BTL Group Ltd, a global technology company.

A T-Level qualification is equivalent to 3 A-Levels and has been developed collaboratively with UK businesses to prepare students to go straight into paid work or to higher-level study. The 45-60 day industry placement gives students hands-on experience in the digital workplace, whilst developing skills businesses are looking for that will help them progress into employment at the end of the course.

Nathan, who spent his industry placement with EXA Networks, said:

“Overall the placement has allowed me to grow both my technical and employability skills which will ultimately help me in the future. This is due to the fact that I now know how a business operates within the IT industry and I have learnt valuable skills that cannot be found elsewhere.”

Harriett completed a virtual placement with BTL Group and explained: “I enjoyed the design stage of the project the most, where we designed what an application would look like on a tablet or phone as the final product the company would use. This placement has been extremely beneficial as it has given me experience in how companies do projects in real-time.”

Shipley College is looking for local businesses to offer industry placements to our students during the next academic year. If you are interested and would like more information, contact Jacqueline Porritt at jacquelinep@shipley.ac.uk.
