How do I apply for an Advanced Learner Loan?

The College will provide you with a Learning and Funding information letter. You will need this letter to make a loan application by visiting to either apply online or download and post an application form.

Useful to know:

  • If you’re unsure about taking out a loan and want to seek advice then you should contact the MoneyHelper, established by the UK government, who can offer free, impartial advice by visiting their website - MoneyHelper

  • If you have been granted a full or partial Advanced Learner Loan, you will still be liable for the balance of course and exam fees not covered by the loan and the College may be able to offer instalment payments via standing order.

  • If you withdraw from a course funded by the Advanced Learner Loan, the College's policy is not to refund course and exam fees, except in exceptional circumstances.

  • If you withdraw from a course you will remain liable for any part of the course and exam fees not received by the College from the Student Loans Company.

If the fees are not paid in full within the notice period or as agreed, the outstanding debt will be referred to the College's debt collection agents. A debt recovery administration charge of 12% may be added to the outstanding debt to cover the debt collection costs.
