Enrolment Days Just Got Fun!
If you've ever been to a college enrolment day, you'll know they're often more like a dentist's waiting room than the start of one of the most exciting chapters of a young person's life.
Rows of chairs...paperwork...and a voice shouting 'Next!" every 10 minutes or so.
Not exactly the welcome students deserve.
This August, Shipley College is launching FutureFest – a brand-new festival-style enrolment experience that transforms enrolment into two exciting days packed with activities, entertainment and opportunities for students to experience college life before they even begin.
Taking place on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st August, FutureFest replaces the traditional enrolment process with an immersive event where students can explore the campus, experience their chosen subject, meet tutors and current students, and discover what makes Shipley College different.
Across the campus there will be interactive experiences designed to bring every curriculum area to life. Visitors can test their skills in an esports racing arena featuring professional driving simulators, step inside an immersive hospital ward to experience health and care training, explore creative workshops, enjoy live demonstrations, competitions and entertainment, take selfies at interactive photo stations and discover opportunities across every course area.
Parents and carers are encouraged to attend too, giving families the chance to meet staff, explore the facilities and feel confident they've made the right choice.
Importantly, FutureFest isn't just for students who already have an offer. Anyone collecting their GCSE results and still deciding on their next step is welcome to attend, explore the College and enrol.
Victoria Boardman, Head of Student Administration at Shipley College, said:
"Enrolment should be one of the most exciting moments in a young person's education, yet traditionally it's often meant queues, paperwork and waiting around. We wanted to change that completely.
"FutureFest will be two days full of fun, excitement, creativity, colour and activities happening right across the campus. From immersive learning experiences and esports racing simulators to live demonstrations, entertainment and interactive course activities, there will be something happening wherever you look.

We're a vibrant, creative and welcoming community, and FutureFest gives students and their families the opportunity to experience that from the moment they arrive. We want every student to leave not only enrolled, but genuinely excited and confident about starting the next chapter of their lives with us."
FutureFest has been designed to make the transition from school to college as enjoyable and memorable as possible, giving every student the chance to explore, discover and experience college life before lessons even begin.
