EXCITING NEW CHAPTER FOR SALTAIRE'S HERITAGE
Shipley College is looking forward to an exciting new chapter for Saltaire, with plans progressing for a new facility - The James Roberts Centre - on Caroline Street.
The development will create additional classrooms and modern learning spaces for students, alongside welcoming facilities for education, heritage and the wider community, including a new home for the remarkable Saltaire Collection.
For many years, much of this historic collection, celebrating Sir Titus Salt, his family and the people who shaped Saltaire, has remained largely hidden from public view. The new centre will provide an opportunity to share these treasures with residents and visitors alike.
Following public consultation dating back to 2022 and subsequent planning and community engagement, Shipley College took ownership of the site on Friday 16 October 2026.
Travel and Parking Arrangements
With the Caroline Street car park now closed, we encourage students, parents and carers to plan their journeys carefully, particularly during busy morning and afternoon periods.
Where possible, please consider public transport, walking, cycling or alternative drop-off and collection arrangements to help minimise congestion around the College and surrounding residential streets.
We appreciate everyone's patience and consideration for our neighbours as the development progresses.
