CARE STUDENT NOMINATED FOR NATIONAL LEARNER OF THE YEAR AWARD

A standout Health and Social Care student at Shipley College has been shortlisted for a prestigious ‘Learner of the Year’ NCFE national award after impressing both tutors and healthcare professionals with her dedication and passion for midwifery.
Isabelle, currently studying Level 3 Health and Social Care, discovered her love for maternity care during a hands-on placement at Bradford Royal Infirmary. There, she observed real NHS procedures, supported new mothers, and even cut an umbilical cord during a live caesarean section – an experience she describes as life-changing.
“I feel incredibly proud to be nominated,” she said. “My time on the maternity ward confirmed that midwifery is my future.”
The nomination comes at a time when Shipley College is celebrating a record number of applications for September 2025. With an easy, streamlined admissions process, prospective students can apply online and often receive an offer the very same day.

A Shipley College spokesperson said:
“We are immensely proud of Isabelle and all she has achieved. Her nomination reflects the dedication, curiosity and resilience we see in so many of our learners. Isabelle’s story also highlights the value of real-world experience and how our courses help students discover their true career path.”
The Learner of the Year category recognises individuals who are developing themselves through vocational qualifications from NCFE and making positive improvements to their lives.
