Students from Shipley College's Art, Fashion and Textiles courses showcased their work to family, friends and invited guests at the College's annual end-of-year exhibition on Friday.

Held directly opposite the world-famous Salts Mill galleries in Saltaire, the exhibition featured work from learners across Art and Design, Fashion and Textiles, with displays ranging from sculpture and portraiture to sustainable fashion projects and catwalk pieces.

The event took place just days after the death of Bradford-born artist David Hockney, whose work was exhibited for many years at Salts Mill, adding extra significance to a celebration of emerging creative talent in the district.

The evening began with a catwalk show featuring garments created for the students' Fashion Fiesta project, alongside a collection of reworked shirts focusing on sustainability and textile reuse.

Visitors were also able to explore a wide range of artwork produced by students studying at Levels 1, 2 and 3, as well as the College's T Level Fashion and Textiles programme.

Vicky Burnett, Fashion T Level Lecturer at Shipley College, said:

"The standard of work this year has been incredibly high. Our Year 2 students have produced work that is already at industry and university level without a doubt.

"The Year 1 students have also created outstanding work and will only continue to improve as they progress through their studies.

"What makes Shipley College special is our connection to industry and the sense of community we have here. We're a small college, but being small doesn't mean we can't do big things. Everyone pulls together to create opportunities like this for our students, and that's what makes Shipley College such a unique place to study."

The exhibition brought together students, staff, parents and carers to celebrate a year's worth of creative achievement and provided an opportunity for learners to display their work in a setting surrounded by some of Yorkshire's best-known artistic heritage.

From large-scale artworks and sculpture to fashion collections and sustainable design projects, the exhibition highlighted the breadth of creative talent developing within Shipley College's art and fashion departments.
