This Level 3 qualification can be taken as a one year or two year course. In the first year you will complete the units you need to be awarded the Extended Certificate in Horticulture. If you choose to return for a second year, you will complete a further five units leading to a National Diploma. This flexible programme is perfect for those wanting to change career or gain skills and experience to develop their current role.

You will also gain knowledge and understanding of the industry through talks & visits. Assessment is through portfolio and assignment work. This popular course can lead to employment in garden maintenance, landscaping, or plant nurseries or progression to further study at foundation degree level.
The vocational element of the course is delivered at our campus in Saltaire one day per week with students also expected to undertake additional personal study using the college’s virtual learning environment which gives access to all lesson materials and additional resources provided by the course tutors. In addition to a vocational day students will need to spend time in an industry based work placement. At the end of the programme students will have gained a range of horticultural skills and an awareness of the range and scope of the Horticulture industry.
