Gateway Level 3 Certificate in Networking & Cybersecurity

This course is suitable for those who have some knowledge of Cybersecurity for example having completed the Level 2 Award in Cybersecurity. It is for those who are interested in a career in cybersecurity.

By the end of the qualification you will have developed an understanding of:

  • project management
  • access control - learning about the purpose and methods of controlling access to systems
  • data communications - exploring transmission methods and protocols that enable connectivity and transmission of data including signal theory
  • ethical hacking - understanding the role of ethical hacking in testing the security of networks, using techniques such as penetration testing and social engineering;
  • network management - understanding network management functions and the tools and technologies required to manage networks
  • network threats and vulnerabilities - learning about types and sources of network attacks and developing the skills and understanding needed to plan and protect a network
  • networking - understanding the key components of networks and also learn about the protocols and the services provided by networks

Each area will be explored and evidenced developed into a portfolio which is how you will be assessed. The portfolio will be internally assessed and verified and then externally verified by Gateway.

Once you have achieved this qualification you may consider an apprenticeship as an Information Communication Technician or progress into learning programming.
