16-19 Tuition Fund
This fund is to mitigate the disruption to learning due by COVID-19.
The Tuition Fund is being used by Shipley College to fund the STRIDES programme which provides additional small group tuition for eligible students in English, maths, vocational and non-academic studies.
SEND students and those with EHCPs can be supported through STRIDES with pastoral support including mental health and wellbeing, and skills and learning in preparation for adulthood.
These small group or 1:1 sessions will be delivered in person or online and are in addition to your course timetable. Groups should be no greater than 5 students at a time and will never exceed 7 students (up to 7 is permitted in exceptional circumstances such as where specialist staff have limited available time or where workshop space is at a premium.)
You are likely to be eligible for the STRIDES programme if you are a student enrolled onto a 16-19 study programme or a T-level, and meet any of the following criteria:
you have not achieved a grade 6 in GCSE English and/or GCSE maths by age 16 and need catch-up support
you are from the 27% most economically deprived areas of the country (based on the index of multiple deprivation) and need catch-up support
you meet the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund eligibility criteria and need catch-up support to reach your full potential, even where your prior attainment is high (above grade 6 in English and / or maths
you are aged 19 to 24 and have an EHCP and meet the above eligibility criteria relating to grades or deprivation and where accessing additional tuition would enable you to reach your full potential
The STRIDES programme will use small group, including 1:1 tuition to support you to achieve your full potential.
