If you are over 19, you could access a Level 3 (A-Level or Advanced Technical Certificate equivalent) course for FREE. The Government 'Free Courses for Jobs' scheme will pay your fees if you are eligible, and this could gain you new skills desired by employers, a higher wage or increased job prospects.

Some of the useful course options available to you at Shipley College, all of which are in sectors that are actively looking for new entrants, include fast track careers in Rail, courses in the sought-after areas of counselling, care and mental health, and modern technical qualifications in ever-growing areas like Cyber Security and Software Development. Most of these courses are over several months and are worth anywhere between £800 and £7000.

You can check whether your course will be FREE by calling the Enrolments Team or by checking the government website. In short, if you are over 19 and live in an eligible postcode area, you will receive funding if this is your first Level 3 qualification. Alternatively, if you already have a Level 3 qualification and you are either unemployed and receiving benefits, or you are working but your annual gross earnings are less than £23,400 (£20,319 annually if not from an eligible regional postcode), then you would also be eligible for funding.

There is also support through the Learner Support Fund if you are 19+ (and your household income is less than £25,000) to help with the cost of equipment, travel, and childcare.
