‘I studied at Shipley College between 2012 and 2015 studying Level 2 and Level 3 Health & Social Care qualifications. I have now progressed to study a BSc Hons in Adult Nursing at the University of Bradford. During my time at College, I was not always the ideal students and struggled with some aspects of the course but I knew I wanted a career in nursing.
The work I did at college has helped me both in my studies at university and whilst on placement. The role plays and assessments were recorded, which made me nervous, however I have grown more confident after having a lot of my university work assessed through recordings.
I’m enjoying working in Nursing and it’s the best job ever. There are so many opportunities working at the hospital and I am always a new learning experience. Each day is so different. One day I may be assisting on cardiac arrest and another I will be helping babies. Even when I’m tired after a long 13-hour shift, I really know that I am making a difference every day.
I have loved coming back to the college to see my tutors because they have helped me be where I am today and also to see the students to help them make decisions for the future.’
