Youth Work Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2)

This qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards for youth work and supports the skills & knowledge needed to become a competent Assistant Youth Support Worker. You will gain an understanding of the key purpose & role of youth work including the skills, knowledge, qualities & values required to practice; safeguarding in a youth work setting, including keeping safe online; young people’s development & how youth work can support adolescents; and working with challenging behaviour. Optional units include: Employment Rights & Responsibilities, Anti-discriminatory Practice and Supporting Young People with Disabilities & Additional Learning Needs.

• You should be at least 16 years old. • A job as an apprentice in a Youth Work setting for a minimum of 30 hours per week. If you work fewer hours, the length of time on your apprenticeship will be longer. • You must pass an initial assessment in English & maths. • You will have an interview. • A clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at the start of the course.
After your apprenticeship, you can progress on to the Youth Work Practice Level 3 Diploma or Apprenticeship. You can also use the skills you have developed and the experience you have gained at work to progress further in your job role/career.
