Youth Work Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3)

This qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards for youth work & supports the skills and knowledge needed to become a competent Youth Support Worker. You will gain an understanding of the values, core principles and current policies relating to youth work; intervention strategies in youth work settings; and the principles, knowledge and skills needed for workbased practice. Optional units include: Caseload Management, Implementing Exchange Programmes, Outreach and Detached Youth Work.

• You must be 18 years or over. • A job as an apprentice in a Youth Work setting for a minimum of 30 hours per week. If you work fewer hours the length of time on your apprenticeship will be longer. • A minimum of 1 year’s relevant industry experience and/or a Level 2 vocational qualification. • You must pass an initial assessment in English & maths. • You will have an interview. • A clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at the start of the course.
Whilst there is currently no Level 4 qualification in Youth Work Practice, the Advanced Level Apprenticeship does offer progression to a range of higher level qualifications. These include the Level 4 Award/Certificate in Working with Vulnerable Young People; Level 4 qualifications in Advice & Guidance; and Foundation Degrees in Working with Young People. You could also use the skills you have developed and the experience you have gained at work to progress further in your job role/career, potentially in to management.
