Focusing on children’s education from birth to 19 years old, you will discover all aspects of children’s development from behaviour and the support of their education including the Early Years Foundation Stage to the National Curriculum.
This course will teach you the principles of observation, recording and assessing development to ensure children thrive. Other topics include the principles of Equality & Diversity, legislation, the legal & moral rights of children and the implementation of nondiscriminatory practices. You will learn about working with parents, agencies, SEND and the safeguarding of children to promote their welfare. You will also learn how to support children with English as an additional language.
As a Childcare practitioner, you must have an understanding of educational theory and be committed to reflective practice to improve your own professional development.
You will also need to complete 750 hours in an industry placement with an employer over two years, which will ensure that you develop and deepen the skills needed for your chosen career.
