Learn the skills required by a Teaching Assistant, making sure pupils get the most out of their lessons. You could help to plan, carry out and evaluate a wide range of learning activities, working both alongside the teacher to support classroom activities, and alone with individuals or groups of students. Some learning support staff specialise in areas such as music or special needs. This course will help improve your employment prospects and enable you to work in a variety of childcare settings.

• You must be 18 years or over. • A job as an apprentice in a school as a Teaching Assistant for a minimum of 30 hours a week. • A minimum of 1 year’s relevant industry experience and/or a Level 2 qualification in Childcare. • You must pass an initial assessment in English, maths & ICT. • You will have an interview. • A clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at the start of the course.
After your apprenticeship, you can study a course at college or university, such as a Higher Apprenticeship or use the skills and experience you have gained to progress further in your job role/career.
