This is a 21 week course available to anyone aged 19+ (no upper age limit).
You must be committed to work hard in all weathers and be fit enough to be able to achieve the standards required for this manual job. Online and/or classroom sessions take place one day a week, taught by industry experts with links to Railway Engineering companies. You will gain knowledge of railway civil engineering, track engineering, contruction and maintenance which incudes some practical work experience on real track lines. Other key topics covered are Overhead Line Equipment Construction, Railway Signalling Systems, Engineering and Environmental Health and Safety as well as Engineering Organisational Efficiency and Improvement.
You will need a Level 1 or Grade 4 (D) in maths & English. However, the College provides an initial assessment to determine your level. You will also need access to a laptop to complete the written assessments.
Sessions will have a blended learning approach i.e classroom and online lessons with some practical sessions. Classroom sessions will be in the Leeds/Bradford area.
