In-Service Teacher Training for the Lifelong Learning Sector

Develop the knowledge and skills to play a full part in teaching & curriculum development. You focus on your specialist subject area & a significant amount of your learning happens in your place of work, allowing you to put theory into practice. You should, normally be in paid employment, as a teacher or trainer, for a minimum of 100 hours (at least 50 hours in any one year) at a recognised training or educational establishment. Voluntary teaching/training may be acceptable in some circumstances. You are required to identify a work-based mentor who can support you with your subject specialism. There are 4 levels for this course: Certificate in Education (Cert.Ed) In-Service Lifelong Learning – H/5000/SEP, Suitable if you have a HNC, CGLI Advanced, the NVQ Level 3/4, or professional qualifications and significant work experience in the area you teach (where appropriate to the subject field). If you hold a basic teaching qualification (such as DTLLS Part One) or have substantial knowledge and experience of teaching, you may be able to make a claim for accreditation of prior learning., , Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) In-Service Lifelong Learning – H/5001/SEP, Suitable if you have a UK degree or equivalent. Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) In-Service Lifelong Learning – H/5002/SEP, Suitable if you have a UK degree or equivalent, at a minimum 2:1. This differs course from the PGCE (5001) in Year 2, where the Modules are completed to a Masters Level if the Postgraduate route is chosen., Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDip) In-Service Lifelong Learning – H/5003/SEP, Suitable if you have a UK degree or equivalent, at a minimum 2:1. This course is at Masters level.
