In-Service Teacher Training for the Lifelong Learning Sector

Develop the skills to play a full part in teaching & curriculum development. You focus on your specialist subject area & a significant amount of your learning happens in your place of work, allowing you to put theory into practice. You should normally be in paid employment, as a teacher or trainer, for a minimum of 100 hours (at least 50 hours in any one year) at a recognised training or educational establishment. Voluntary teaching/training may be acceptable in some circumstances. You are required to identify a work-based mentor who can support you with your subject specialism. You are enrolled on this course as a University of Huddersfield student, studying the course at Shipley College & attending College on the following dates:11/09/21, 25/09/21, 09/10/21, 06/11/21, 04/12/21, 15/01/22, 05/02/22, 05/03/22, 26/03/22, 30/04/22, 14/05/22, 11/06/22. There are 4 levels for this course: Certificate in Education (Cert.Ed) In-Service Lifelong Learning – H/5000/SEP Suitable if you have a HNC, CGLI Advanced, the NVQ Level 3/4, or professional qualifications and significant work experience in the area you teach (where appropriate to the subject field). If you hold a basic teaching qualification (such as DTLLS Part One) or have substantial knowledge and experience of teaching, you may be able to make a claim for accreditation of prior learning. Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) In-Service Lifelong Learning – H/5001/SEP Suitable if you have a UK degree or equivalent. Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) In-Service Lifelong Learning – H/5002/SEP Suitable if you have a UK degree or equivalent, at a minimum 2:1. This differs course from the PGCE (5001) in in Year 2, where the Modules are completed to a Masters Level if the Postgraduate route is chosen. Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDip) In-Service Lifelong Learning – H/5003/SEP Suitable if you have a UK degree or equivalent, at a minimum 2:1. This course is at Masters level. Please note, this course was planned during the pandemic. We are moving some teaching and support online, however, where this is not possible, courses may be taught in college following social distancing requirements.
