You can really make a difference to people’s lives working in care. You develop skills in caring for others across the care sector including working with older people, supporting those mental health issues, rehabilitation and healthy living.
‘I decided to study a Health & Social Care course because I want to work with people with additional needs. I enjoy learning about how different people cope with their condition or disability. I chose Shipley College because it was appropriate for my needs. After my course, I want to get a job helping a disability organisation.’
Caitlin, 19, Health & Social Care
A personal situation encouraged me to pursue a career in care. I had heard good things about Shipley College, especially that it is small, which is one of the reasons I chose to study here. I like that once I am qualified, I can spend time helping people. I am looking at going to university to study care further and hopefully gain employment in a care home or as a dietician.
Hassan, 19, Health & Social Care
