Cake Decoration for Beginners

This beginner’s course is aimed at those with little or no experience of cake decorating. It is an introduction to basic ingredients and techniques required to produce an impressive cake at the end of the ten weeks. Please note, some items will be provided, however, you will need the following equipment: A nylon 9” rolling pin, a smoother, a nylon board to work on, a cake drum (at least 2” bigger than your cake) craft filling or cell stick, cornflour and small scissors. You will also need to supply ingredients for making a cake and the decorations. This equipment will be enough for all three courses. JANUARY Spring Flowers and Critter Cake Create a bright spring cake with daffodils and other spring flowers. Make cute bunnies and other woodland critters. Decorate a cake with picket fences and other applique work. You will be introduced to piping in royal icing. You will need a fruit cake or dummy cake around week 5.
