Access to Higher Education - Health & Social Care

Access to HE Level 3 Diploma courses are ideal for mature students who lead busy lives and are designed for adults who don’t have the necessary academic qualifications for entry into university. All lessons are delivered online by tutors. Days are timetabled together to enable you to work alongside completing the course. Entry requirements: Be aged 19+, have English & maths GCSE at a grade 4 (C) or above, or Functional Skills Level 2 Literacy & Numeracy, good IT skills. Course attendance: 2 full days per week online from 9.30am-4pm. You should be able to commit to additional study. This is a fast paced course, requiring determination & excellent attendance to enable you to succeed in achieving your goal. You will choose a pathway dependent on your future career aspiration & university course choice. Health Professions Pathway: On this pathway, you study Level 3 modules in Human Physiology, Psychology & Professional Health Care Practice. This can lead to university study for a wide range of professions such as Nursing (Adult, Mental Health or Children’s), Midwifery, Paramedic Science & Radiography. You can also progress to a wide range of science-based university courses that require Level 3 study including Physiology & Biomedical Sciences. Social Sciences Pathway: During this course you will study Level 3 modules in Sociology & Psychology and Professional Healthcare Practice. This pathway can lead to university study in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology & Criminology, Youth & Community Development, Health & Social Welfare, Counselling & Psychology in community settings, Childhood & Youth Studies and Primary Education, plus entry to a wide range of university courses which require Level 3 study. This will be followed up by an interview with a member of the Access Team. Please note, this course was planned during the pandemic. We are moving some teaching and support online, however, where this is not possible, courses may be taught in college following social distancing requirements.
