Traineeships - Benefits for Employers

A trainee is a young person, aged 16 - 24* who is looking to improve their skills and experience to help them on their first steps to employment or an apprenticeship.

The benifits of having a traniee 

  • A short training programme funded by the government with no costs involved.

  • As an employer, you may be entitled to a £1000 incentive per trainee

  • Gives your current employees experience in training and mentoring

  • Allows you to design a programme that suits both the needs of your business and the needs of the trainee

  • Can help you increase the productivity of your workforce

  • Encourages young people to consider a career in your industry

  • Allows you to help tackle youth unemployment

  • You may consider offering an apprenticeship to the trainee after the programme if you feel they have potential.

Or are aged 19 - 25 and subject to a Learning Difficulty Assessment (LDA) or an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) issued by your home local authority, you can also apply.
