Football Development Centre The Football Development Centre has been designed to offer the very best in training and coaching for people aged between 16 and 19 with excellent football ability and who have played at:
- professional club involvement - eg Academy or School of Excellence
- semi-professional, non-professional or County FA School of Excellence
- national, county or district representative level
OR
- are recommended by school or the manager of their junior football club

Football at Shipley College College football teams currently compete in the NE Southern Region Merit League 1st X1 and 2nd X1. We were champions in 2000-01, runners up in 2001-02 and have qualified for the play-offs for the last 5 years. It is hoped the Football Development squad will be accepted into the English Colleges' Academy League and Cup competitions. This will mean playing against other academy teams from across the regional and in national cup competitions.
What will the programme involve? Training, practice, coaching and a lot of hard work to develop each student's potential, whilst also studying an educational programme that leads to a vocational qualification.
A fully-qualified UEFA 'B' licensed coach, as required by the English Colleges' Football Association, will direct the coaching programme.
Our lead coach is Mark Senior (BA Hons in Sport and Leisure), a former youth player with Bradford City, currently playing semi-professional football whilst developing his own successful company: Pro-Skills Soccer Coaching. Joe Rayner is our fitness coach (and a full-time tutor). Joe has a BA Hons in Sport Science, he was a Physical Training Instructor in the Army and has experience working with Bradford City and Sheffield Wednesday as specialist fitness conditioning coach.
How do I enrol on the programme? You must have ambition and total commitment to both football and your academic future.
